A 1500-year-old synagogue at Ein Keshatot, located in the southern Golan Heights, is a remarkably preserved Byzantine-era structure from the 6th century, featuring a unique five-meter-high Ark of the Covenant relief and a basilica-like design with a gabled roof. Destroyed in the 749 CE earthquake, the site attests to a dense and prosperous Jewish settlement during the Mishna and Talmud periods, marked by agricultural wealth and notable stone artistry, including depictions of eagles and agricultural produce.
